Our Story

How it all started...

CrossRoads began on the campus of Old Dominion University in the fall of 2000 to impact and shape the lives of college students. After several years and many different locations, CrossRoads began renting space from Larchmont Baptist Church. The church was relaunched in the fall of 2005 under the leadership of Pastor Kevin Tremper with a strategic focus to reach the campus, community and the world. In the summer of 2011, Larchmont Baptist gifted the building to CrossRoads, giving CrossRoads a permanent home.

Discipleship

At CrossRoads, we take Jesus’ last words to his disciples seriously: “go and make disciples.” We define success not by how many people attend church on a Sunday morning or how much money is collected during offering each week, but rather by how effectively people are following the person of Jesus.

WHAT DOES A DISCIPLE LOOK LIKE?
We define a disciple as someone who has the character and competency of Jesus.

In the Gospels, you see Jesus intentionally living in 3 distinct and significant relationships:
1. His love for God (UP)
2. His love for his followers (IN)
3. His love for the lost (OUT)

We believe that every person is called to reflect these same relationships in their personal life.

Our Values

  • We are Disciples

  • We are Spirit Led
